How To Take Care Of Palm Tree Indoor
Palm plants typically have little to no maintenance needs, yet they still require some care to survive and thrive.
1. Avoid Direct Sunlight
- Direct sunlight can actually burn palm leaves and cause curling or brown leaf tips.
- Keep your palm in partial shade or in an area receiving indirect sunlight.
2. Keep Soil Moist
- Palm plants require a delicate balance of humidity and moisture.
- Mist the leaves or place the plant in a room with a humidifier to keep it moist.
- When exposed to an excess of moisture, though, palm plants are susceptible to root rot.
- Drain your containers of excess water to ensure a healthy growing process.
- Leaves will develop brown tips if left alone too long without water.
3. Occasionally Prune
- Prune off dead brown leaves to keep the plant thriving.
- Refrain from over pruning the leaves, as this is a main source of nutrition.
- Do not cut the top of the plant.
4. Keep Pests Away
- Palm trees are prone to spider mites and mealybugs.
- These can be treated with insecticidal soaps.
5. Use Fertilizer
- A specialized palm fertilizer can provide nutrients like potassium, magnesium and iron.
- Use fertilizer a few times per year.
